WI Clinic Helps Patient with Cost

Tired of living on social security, Scott Decker was determined to return to work. However, his three-year-old prosthesis left him in constant and severe pain. He could barely walk without feeling excruciating pain in his residual limb.

Unfortunately, Decker did not have the money or resources to replace or even to repair his prosthesis….until he began working with John Mooney, CPO, of Actra Orthotics and Prosthetics.

After examining Decker, Mooney determined that he needed a new prosthesis, which cost $17,000, and committed to helping him figure out how to pay for it. Mooney worked closely with Decker’s insurance company, which said they would pay for 80 percent of the cost. Mooney then stepped up and said his clinic would finance the remaining 20 percent.

Today Decker is back at work with his new leg. We’re all human beings,” Mooney said. “We have to watch out for each other.”
