Freedom™ Socket

The most important single factor in whether a prosthesis will fail, meet, or exceed expectations is the fit of the socket.  Almost all prosthetic providers have access to the same componentry, i.e. the knee joint, pylons, and feet/ankle.  What separates one facility from another is the prosthetist’s socket fitting techniques, its employees and their education. 

Benchmark’s staff have extensive experience and education with CAT CAM Transfemoral design.  The “Freedom™ Socket" is unique in that it is a very highly contoured anatomical design that allows the patient to have the feeling and proprioceptive feedback that makes the patient feel that the prosthesis is an extension of their leg.  At Benchmark, we have added our own experience and material adaptations to the process of CAT CAM technology to give us our own unique socket design.  These same ideas and principles are also applied to Transfibial, Hip Disarticulation, and Hemi Corpectomy Sockets. We believe, in most cases, that a more intimate fit will give a better result, with a major decrease in energy expenditure.
