What To Expect
Outpatient Rehabilitation
Physiotherapy Associates' physical therapists specialize in the treatment of injuries to muscles, bones, ligaments, joints and nerves. Our goal is to return patients to their normal activities while helping them move and feel better and prevent re-injury.
Initial visit
During your first visit, a thorough evaluation is done by one of our physical therapists. During this evaluation, the therapist may perform a series of tests to determine range of motion, test muscle strength, assess postural alignment, abnormalities in walking pattern, body mechanics or quality of movement. Other tests may include ones for sensation, balance and coordination and nerve function diagnostics, such as reflex testing.
After the evaluation of your ailment is complete, the therapist will recommend a plan of care then render the appropriate treatment.
Treatments
Under the careful guidance of our physical therapists, patients work on a wide range of exercises and individualized treatment activities designed especially for each patient. Your physical therapist may utilize various exercise techniques, ultrasound, neuromuscular facilitation, whirlpool, electrical stimulation, wound care, iontophoresis, gait training, range of motion, and other forms of therapy during your rehabilitative care.
Orthotics & Prosthetics
Physiotherapy Associates' orthotists employ the latest mechanical and biomechanical principles to solve all types of orthotic injuries. Our prosthetists are skilled in providing a prosthesis that gives you the highest degree of function and is the most cosmetically pleasing.
Initial visit
During your initial evaluation we will ask a lot of questions about your lifestyle and personal preferences. Our clinicians are then able to determine your real needs and make appropriate suggestions regarding your custom orthosis and/or prosthesis.
Orthotics
Once it has been determined what needs to be done we design and fabricate your orthosis. More often than not, the device is custom made. It is for this reason that we employ experienced ABC Board Certified Orthotists with the professionalism, compassion and skill to provide you with a device that will make a positive difference in your life.
Prosthetics
Once it has been determined what needs to be done, we often use computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) to design your prosthesis and the finest materials to create devices that are attractive, flexible, durable and low maintenance.
